On September 12, 2024, the Physical and Mental Health Committee hosted its suicide prevention webinar, “Hope in the Dark: Understanding & Preventing Suicide.” The webinar was designed to raise awareness across various age groups, including high school and college students, as well as adults. The event was open to the public, and 237 attendees participated.
Panelists that presented during the webinar offered invaluable information on causes and warning signs of suicide and provided tools for recognizing and addressing mental health crises, including coping strategies such as self-care and peer support.

Participants were connected with local and national mental health resources. The webinar also encouraged open dialogue to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and seeking help, aiming to equip individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to support themselves and others during times of crisis.
